2nd 9 Weeks Book Report


Book Cover/ Jacket
Given out: Monday, Oct. 20, 2008
Due date: Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008
You will make a book cover (jacket) for the book you have read.  It is NOT to look just like the original cover.  Please fold with flaps.  (Example will be attached.) Use complete sentences on entire thing.  Leave NO PENCIL!  Must be in ink (marker or typed).  All must be in color.   Must be on paper size 8.5 x 11 (typing paper or card stock).  No bigger! (No poster board size:).

On the front cover:
Place the original title and author’s name at the top.
Illustrate a setting from the book.
Write the main idea (theme) at the bottom of the front cover. (What message do you think the author was trying to convey/get across when he/she wrote the book? the moral)
On the back cover:
Box at the top- Student’s name-1st and Last, class period, AR points, AR level, # of pages.
Middle box- 3 paragraph summary of the book.
Bottom box- 5 sentence review: Why did you decide to read this book? Would you recommend it to others?
Inside Flaps:
Illustrate a picture of the main character(s).
Write 2 paragraphs about the main character(s).
This may take one flap or both.
Inside of Jacket/cover:
Create a possible new title for the book (place at the top)
Create a timeline of 10 events throughout the story that were important .
Put illustrations with 5 of the events.
